A 14-foot linen cloth bears the faint image of a crucified man. Scientists call it unexplainable, containing 3D data formed by a burst of light equal to 10 quadrillion watts. Is it a medieval forgery or the authentic burial cloth of Jesus Christ?
Learn why the infamous 1988 carbon dating test was flawed, as it tested a medieval patch, not the original cloth.
The blood is Type AB, common in the Middle East, and contains high levels of bilirubin, indicating extreme trauma.
The wounds match Roman flagrum whips, nails in the wrists (not hands), a spear wound, and a crown of thorns.
Pollen spores found on the cloth are from flowers that bloom only in Jerusalem around Passover.
The image contains topographical data, explainable only by a brief, intense burst of radiation that scorched the linen.
While not the foundation of faith, the Shroud serves as powerful supporting evidence for the historical resurrection.
The 1978 Shroud of Turin Research Project (STURP), comprised of secular scientists, concluded the image was not made by paint, dyes, or any known artistic method. Their best explanation? An event that science cannot replicate.
The image on the shroud contains three-dimensional, topographical information, much like a photo negative. This data is encoded in the intensity of the scorch marks on the linen fibers. No known medieval or modern technique can reproduce this effect.
Researchers concluded the image was likely created by a brief, intense burst of radiant energy. The estimated power required is 10 quadrillion watts-a one with 16 zeros-emitted in a billionth of a second, scorching only the outermost fibers without burning through the cloth.
